First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of Russia Sergei Kiriyenko, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov visited the International Children's Center "Artek". They took part in the ceremony of presenting passports to 14-year-old Artek children, the opening of monuments and other events.
At the central stadium, on behalf of the President of Russia, a ceremonial presentation of the Order of Honor to the staff of the International Children's Center "Artek" took place. Sergey Kiriyenko presented the award to the director of the center Konstantin Fedorenko, Vladimir Podznoyev – the oldest employee of "Artek", the editor of the film and video archive of the center's film studio and the entire staff of the center. The ceremony took place as part of the festive event "Dream, "Artek"!", in which about 3,300 children of the anniversary shift took part.
Sergey Kiriyenko emphasized that the new life of Artek began in 2014 thanks to the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said that Russia has created colossal opportunities for children, and Artek has become a center of attraction.
"The miracle of Artek is its people, its team of like-minded people who dedicate their entire lives to children. And that is why Artek is a center of power, a place of love and dreams, a place where the future of our country is being created. But most importantly, guys, it would not exist without you. Whatever the team of organizers, counselors, teachers, and leaders does, if it were not for your glowing eyes, your smiles, your energy, the miracle of Artek would never have happened. Only together do you create it. You guys are great!" – noted Sergey Kiriyenko.
Dmitry Chernyshenko also addressed the event participants.
"For 100 years, Artek has been an international standard of quality for children's recreation. Let us all thank those who made this miracle happen – a large team led by our President Vladimir Putin, who creates conditions for you to realize your talents. This is a large team of builders, organizers, and those who work with you every day: teachers, counselors, those who help in the kitchen, clean, and guard. This is all the workforce of Artek," he said.
In addition, Sergey Kiriyenko, Dmitry Chernyshenko and Sergey Kravtsov together with Metropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov) of Simferopol and Crimea, the head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov, the governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev, the head of the LDPR faction in the State Duma Leonid Slutsky and the director of the center Konstantin Fedorenko visited the facilities of the children's camp "Solnechny" – dormitories, the center of innovative educational technologies, laboratories and workshops, the assembly hall, and also inspected the landscaped territory. It is expected that 1,000 children will be able to rest in the new camp per shift.
Near the center of innovative educational technologies, honored guests unveiled a monument to the archbishop, outstanding surgeon and professor of medicine Luka Krymsky, in whose honor the Solnechny camp will be named.
The Alley of Heroes of the International Children's Center "Artek" hosted the opening of a monument to the hero-Artek member Lyudmila Radyno from Leningrad. This is the 26th monument to a participant of the anniversary shift of 1945. The event was timed to coincide with the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland. Artek members took part in the grand opening ceremony of the memorial together with the honored guests.
The monument was erected to Lyudmila Radyno from Leningrad, a participant in the 1945 anniversary shift. In 1942, at the age of 12, Lyudmila was a scout behind enemy lines beyond the Don. The girl completed seven combat missions, delivering valuable information to the headquarters of the 62nd Army.
The guests of honor also took part in the ceremony of laying flowers at the Glory Memorial on the Alley of Heroes.
The ceremony of handing over passports to the participants of the anniversary shift was held in the sports palace of the Yantarny children's camp. The traditional event of handing over passports is held in each shift with the participation of about 30 children.
